Currently there are 80 canon law journals worldwide with different key focuses: in Latin or oriental canon law, in legal history of canon law or the legal relationship between religious communities and the state. Seven canonical journals are currently published in Germany and Austria. The Archiv für katholisches Kirchenrecht alone is dedicated to the "classic" canonical themes and shows a wide range of content. With that in mind, the issue arises why “another” canonical journal should be necessary. In our opinion, the necessity arises from desiderata from a) legal-theoretical, b) practice oriented and c) interdisciplinary perspectives on canon law...
