Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is 1.5 line-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The editorial board accepts articles on themes which lie within the scope of the journal. These can be submitted in German or English. Simultaneously the author (m/f) or authors' collective (henceforth "the author"/ "the authors") should provide a short text in which they explain why their work should appear in OZeAN and the relevance of their article. If an article has more than one author, the individual who writes the explanatory text will be viewed as the main author for correspondence purposes. He or she is responsible for forwarding information to his/her fellow authors.

The manuscript should not be longer than 25 A4 pages; one page is about 3,800 characters (including spaces). It is also possible to submit longer studies, following consultation with the editorial team.

Upon submission of the manuscript the author consents to the publication of the article in Open Access (CC BY 4.0). At the same time he/she is to provide a guarantee that he/she possesses the copyright to all the material included (graphics, Open Data).
