Abstract

For some years now, solidarity has been attracting increasing attention both in everyday social life and in (political) philosophical discourse. However, impulses from social ethics and Catholic social teaching are little heard or received within these discourses. Using central concepts of the philosophical discourse, namely social and political solidarity as well as relationality and critique, it is shown how this gap can be filled. For these traditions can contribute important arguments to the clarification of these concepts. The contribution of the theory of solidarism reconstructed by Bernhard Emunds will also be discussed.
