Community work is a central network actor and builds topic-specific and non-specific networks between people, groups and institutions in the community. In doing so, it promotes participatory, diversity-sensitive social urban development and supports people’s joint activities to shape their living environment. Living conditions are to be improved in the sense of the residents, whereby particular attention is paid to the inclusion of economically and/or socially disadvantaged people, so that their interests are also heard. By creating permanent participation structures, it is possible to improve political responsiveness also for people with a low socio-economic status. With the help of creative, sustainable offers, community work can awaken a desire for the future and the ability to shape the living environment.
