Abstract

Housing as a new social question is more than the production of new forms of living and their architectural design, and more than just the translation of changing but individual wishes. It stretches between social and sustainability-political, hardcore-capitalist and global framework conditions, hardware and software, the individual and the common good, consumption and participation. What matters are the protagonists and the way in which and by what standards they act. But it is also crucial to rethink housing both contextually and programmatically and thus to formulate new mixtures, neighbourhoods and evaluation criteria of a project and urban development that want more than the sum of its individual parts – a good life for everyone apart from the question of the wallet and social affiliation.
