CMTC supports Open Science:
CMTC supports the work of WWU Münster in the area of Open Science and encourages its members to take part in and contribute to Open Science initiatives, as recommend by
- the Open Science Center and Open Science Framework (https://osf.io/), especially concerning the Transparency and Open Promotion (TOP) guidelines, see https://osf.io/9f6gx/ and https://osf.io/9f6gx/wiki/Guidelines/, with a focus on the - for the natural sciences critically important - topics 2-4, concerning transparacy with data, analytical methods (including code) and research materials.
- the Nationalen Forschungsdaten Infrastruktur (NFDI) initiative concerning FAIR Research Data Management (RDM) (https://www.forschungsdaten.org/index.php/FAIR_data_principles), in accordance with the work of WWU Münster in this area (https://www.uni-muenster.de/Forschungsdaten/)
The following recommendations are emphasized:
- the routine and well-formulated citation of articles is extended to citation of data and code, to recognize and credit these as original intellectual contributions
- published articles state whether or not data and code is available and, if available, how to access
- if suitable, data and code is posted to a trusted repository
- reporting should maximize transparency about the research process and minimize potential for vague or incomplete reporting of the methodology
- independent replication of results is supported by all means available
- research data management follows the FAIR principles: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Re-usable
