Qualified signatures
The certificates issued by the Certification Authority (CA) of the University of Münster are advanced certificates according to the eIDAS regulation of the EU.
For electronic correspondence between the university and authorities and courts qualified certificates may be required.
The difference is not technical, but administrative and organizational. The cryptographic security is therefore identical. But it is much more complicated to get qualified certificates.
The following subjective experience report describes how I obtained a qualified certificate and successfully used it for signing.
All university staff members doing such correspondence are expected to speak German fluently. So this report is available in German only.
