The main topic of our group is the central carbon metabolism in bacteria and archaea.

We are currently studying

(1) autotrophic carbon dioxide fixation pathway in the members of recently described archaea of the phylum Thaumarchaeota;

(2) autotrophic carbon dioxide fixation pathways in the thermophylic bacteria Ammonifex degensii and Desulfurella acetivorans;

(3) itaconate degradation in pathogenic bacteria;

(4) acetate assimilation pathways in haloarchaea.
