The GC Metabolomics Unit Biology of Plants (GCMUB)

The GC-based Metabolomics Unit Biology of Plants (GCMUB) is based at the Institute for Biology und Biotechnology of plants - IBBP. The instrument used for analysis is the 8890 GC with 7250 QTOF MS and headspace and SPME analyser purchased from Agilent in 2024.

We can perform various metabolomic analysis for groups of the IBBP, but also for other groups of the Department of Biology, independent of their respective association with any of the institutes. In Addition, we’re open to analysing samples from all groups within the university of Münster as well as other academic (non-profit) organizations, such as MPIs. We welcome all requests for collaborations on versatile scientific projects that could result in meaningful and significant scientific findings.

Metabolites that can be analysed:

Sugars
Amino acids
Organic acids
Fatty acids
Sterols
Terpenes
Volatiles

We can provide sample measurement and data analysis as well as help with sample preparation. Our expertise includes:

1.   Identification of various metabolites in complex samples (e.g.  full plant extracts    or lipid-enriched fractions)

2.   Quantification of single or multiple metabolites within complex samples

3.   Detection and quantification of stable-isotope-labelled compounds

If you are interested in starting a collaboration or measuring samples with us, please contact till.ischebeck@uni-muenster.de or lea.hembach@uni-muenster.de

Publication policy

For collaborative projects, any intellectual input from our scientific members into the project during planning, execution and analysis of the experiments justifies a co-authorship on a manuscript that contains data generated in our facility.
