Functionalized biopolymer-based nanoparticles for advanced drug delivery

Current advances

Kaiser (with Goycoolea/Moerschbacher) is interested in finding novel strategies in targeted drug delivery to increase the bioavailability of drugs to the brain. This implies to design surface-modified nanoglycomaterials bearing motifs that allow to both target and open reversibly the blood-to-brain barrier. Preliminary experiments conducted on a model epithelial cell monolayer (MDCK-C7 cell line) using continuous TEER and impedance measurements (CellZScope®) have shown promising results (external collaboration Prof. Galla, WWU).
