Lending conditions

Apart from the non-lendable works in the reference collection, you can borrow most books and media from the library for four weeks. The lending period can be extended five times for four weeks at a time, provided that the items have not been reserved by other users. You can extend the lending period online via the ULB catalogue. Please keep in mind that you will be charged fees for overdue books returned after the lending date.
The library of the Institute of Educational Science is integrated into the ULB lending system. This means that you can borrow items from our library using your ULB user ID.
Items borrowed from the library of the Institute of Educational Science and Communication Science can also be returned to the ULB, the Social Sciences branch library, the Medicine branch library and the “Haus der Niederlande” (Krameramtshaus). Conversely, we accept books borrowed from the ULB and the aforementioned branch libraries.

Reference collection

Our reference collection contains journals with the call number Z, current periodicals, books with a yellow dot (in the reading room) and books with an orange dot (in the open stacks).

Rules of conduct

1. Eating and drinking is not permitted in the entireanywhere in the library. (eException: mineral for bottled water)
2. Users must show all Bbooks and materials must be showed to the library staff without being asked when entering and leaving the library.
