The Chair of British Studies offers courses covering the full range of literary history of the British Isles, from the early Middle Ages to Postmodernism. Fields of special interest and areas of teaching entail literary theory (notably literary historiography, cultural studies, postmodernist approaches to literature), a focus on aspects of the teaching of literature and on the wider historical and current importance of English and culture worldwide (especially through the former British Empire and in the Commonwealth).
