Prof. Dr. Nelly Tsouyopoulos – née Saveriadou (1930-2005)
|
On May 5, 2005, Prof. Dr. Nelly Tsouyopolous passed away after severe illness which she had endured with her innate admirable imperturbability.
The Institute for Interdisciplinary Cyprus-Studies lost an energetic board member whom it owes thanks to in many respects. Nelly Tsouyopoulos was significantly involved in the foundation of the Institute; in 2002, she was rewarded with the “Freundschaftsplakette” (friendship insignia) for her services by the University of Münster. She always committed her utmost devotion to the concerns of the Institute. Thus, she managed to build a firm bridge from Cyprus to Münster – and beyond.
Being a professor of medicinal history and theory at the University of Münster and founding principal of the University of Cyprus, she was an important person in the science and politico-scientific communities. Those who knew her personally will remember her as an impressive personality of intelligence, humour, friendliness, helpfulness and dedication.
