In this partly expository talk, I will discuss various generalizations of Brauer groups to homotopy theoretic settings, and the key differences with classical Brauer groups. Among other things, I will try to motivate a question of Toën's about dualizable categories and explain recent progress on it, obtained by G.Stefanich, and in joint work by B.Antieau and myself.
